Oregon contractor bond requirements
Oregon law requires every CCB-licensed contractor to carry a surety bond on the CCB bond form. The amount depends on the endorsement. House Bill 2922 (2023 Legislature) raised every minimum by $5,000 effective January 1, 2024.
| Endorsement | Bond (from 1/1/2024) |
|---|---|
| Residential General Contractor | $25,000 |
| Residential Specialty Contractor | $20,000 |
| Residential Limited Contractor | $15,000 |
| Residential Developer | $25,000 |
| Home Services Contractor | $15,000 |
| Commercial General Contractor Level 1 | $80,000 |
| Commercial Specialty Contractor Level 1 | $55,000 |
| Commercial General Contractor Level 2 | $25,000 |
| Commercial Specialty Contractor Level 2 | $25,000 |
CCB rules: the bond must be on a CCB form, in the exact legal business name, continuous until cancelled, and filed within 60 days of signing. Contractors endorsed for both residential and commercial work need both bonds. CCB also sets per-occurrence liability insurance minimums by endorsement: $500,000 (residential general), $300,000 (residential specialty), $100,000 (residential limited).
