Nevada contractor bond requirements
Every Nevada contractor's license requires a license bond or cash deposit. There is no fixed table: the Nevada State Contractors Board sets the amount at license approval, between $1,000 and $500,000 (NRS 624.270), considering the license type, monetary limit, financial responsibility, experience and character of the applicant.
- The surety must be authorized in Nevada and rated “A” or better.
- A cashier's-check cash deposit can replace the surety bond.
- Residential pool and spa contractors post an additional consumer-protection bond of $10,000–$400,000.
- Under AB 39 (effective Oct 1, 2023), down payments on owner-occupied residential work cannot exceed $1,000 or 10% of the contract (whichever is less) unless the contractor posts a $100,000 Consumer Protection Bond.
